You all know by now that I love to give away things that I personally am in love with.  Last year, right around Mother's Day, I gave away a Coach purse (I'm a Coach girl!).  This year, however, my newest obsession is Vera Bradley.  I'll admit, I used to think all of her stuff was kind of grandmotherly. I'm not a big floral girly girl. But suddenly the switch flipped and now I'm in love.

I think it was a combination of my dear friend Linda telling me about the practicality of them (they weigh next to nothing and are very comfortable to carry) and my college students' current obsession with everything VB. We went on a trip recently to D.C. with 40 college students and the bus looked like a Vera Bradley factory exploded.  They had suicases, they had sunglass cases, they had make up bags, wardrobe bags, backpacks…it was insane.  I think that's when I realized that many of the patterns are actually very much 'my taste' and not old lady-like at all :)

So I went out and bought a bag (or two..shhhh). And I'm in love! They're so comfortable to carry, fit everything I need and don't add any weight to my already tired shoulders.

So in honor of Mother's Day I thought I'd give a Vera Bradley bag away to one of you!

Up for grabs is the Pleated Tote in Mediterranean Blue.  I find this to be the perfect size for outings. The side pockets fit waterbottles or sippy cups perfectly and the straps are the PERFECT length.

Pleated Tote in Mediterranean Blue

14¾" x 14" x 5¼"
10½" strap drop

Pleats
make a strong fashion statement, especially when featured on this
versatile bag! Larger than our regular Tote, this one also zips closed
for added security. A dropped yoke provides a slight dip at the arm for
comfort. Two wrap around exterior pockets hold larger items, while four
interior compartments will keep you well organized.
I'll run the contest from now until Monday, May 17 and draw a winner randomly
To enter just say "Gimme some Vera!"

Last October, you might remember a contest for some Kinderglo portable nightlights http://pittsburghmom.com/blogs/pittsburghmom/archive/2009/10/05/contest-kinderglo-portable-nightlights.aspx.  I had such success with that contest and other feedback from moms that John at Kinderglo has generously sent me more lights to give away!

What's new this time around is that they have a new light. The Quarter Moon is an adorable little man in the moon with a carrying handle that makes it super easy for kids to grab even in the middle of the night.

My son Matthew saw the prototype picture of the moon that John had sent me to ask for my feedback several months ago when they were just thinking about making Mr. Moon.  He then proceeded to bug me for weeks and weeks asking when he could get a moon. While he loves his dinosaur light, he's always looking for the next, greatest thing :)   John was kind enough to send us one "hot off the shelves" for us to try. It was an instant hit. Matthew took it to show and tell at daycare for three weeks straight.

When they were ready to mass produce the moons, John graciously sent me not only a box full of moons, but also one each of the other lights (TRex, Brontosaurus and Owl).  So I have a whole bunch of lights to give away!

If you weren't around for the other contest, be sure to read the post for my review. In a nutshell, these lights are FANTASTIC. And John and Angela are local and their customer service is amazing. They had some problems early on with the lights suddenly not working. Not only did they work quickly to resolve the problem, but they personally drove new lights to customers' houses or FedEx'd them quickly.  While it's frustrating when a product stops working, sometimes technical glitches happen with new products and, to me, they handled it with great care and grace.

The lights come fully charged (makes for happy little tykes!) and works just as much as a toy as a night light.  They turn on when lifted off the charger, so if your little one gets up in the middle of the night to go potty, they can just pick up the light and it automatically turns on.  It'll turn off after 30 minutes unless you set it to stay on all night. The light will automatically cycle through three colors or you can set it just one color (red, blue, green).  The lights never get hot to the touch and are very durable (trust me, I know this after having a three-year-old who likes to throw things down the stairs during temper tantrums).

if you're not lucky enough to win a light this time around, you can purchase them on Amazon here.

I'll run this contest from now through Monday, May 17 and draw the winners then.

To enter, tell me your favorite bedtime story you read to your kids

Also tell me what your first choice of light would be and I'll give you that one if you win, until I run out of what I have and then I'll randomly send one (I have one each of the other three models and four moons, if I remember correctly, need to check my stash) :)

Thanks to a generous donation from the Pittsburgh Playhouse, we have some exciting contests to offer you!  This contest is a little different from the norm, but very cool.  The Playhouse would like to offer a pizza party for 10 (pizza
and drinks) before the 2 p.m. or 7 p.m. shows on the weekends.  The winner
can redeem at their discretion as long as show tickets are available.  The
party will be held in Premieres Café.

So you buy your show tickets and if you win the contest, you get a pizza party before the show.  And you can use this in conjunction with the Mother's Day offer (below) to get the moms in free!  (Buy 5 tickets for kids and get 5 moms in free, then all 10 of you can eat pizza!)

Seussical
is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza that brings to life all
of your favorite Dr. Seuss friends.  Bursting with frivolity and
imagination, the colorful characters transport us from the Jungle of
Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.  When
Horton the Elephant finds himself faced with a real challenge, he must
protect his tiny friend  Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world
of naysayers and dangers, and he must guard an abandoned egg left to
his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces
incredible obstacles, the valiant Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in
him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and
community emerge triumphant in this beloved story for kids of all ages.

And even if you don't win this contest, the Playhouse has a very special offer for us moms.   Over the Mother’s Day weekend (May
7-9) moms get in free to see Seussical or The Dark Side of Zylo’s
Moon
when accompanied by a paying admission! What a great deal!

I'll run this contest from now through May 1 and draw a winner randomly then.  To enter, just reply with your favorite Dr. Seuss book.

Louis Anthony Jewelers is owned by Veronica and Lou Guarino and is located on North Highland Road.  At
Louis Anthony Jewelers, we offer a carefully chosen and undeniably
stunning selection of jewelry, timepieces and gifts.

We provide the
kind of warm, familiar service that goes beyond knowing your name to
knowing what's on your personal wish list.  For 18 years, it's been a
privilege to share life's most treasured moments with our valued
customers. Their trust, loyalty, and friendship – indeed, what a gift.

The Guarino's have given me a lovely pair of pearl earrings to give away to a local Pittsburgh Mom.  The earrings are 7mm, Freshwater Pearl, and valued at approx. $100.

I've also noticed (as I tend to do) that this great Pittsburgh jeweler also keeps a blog where they talk about everything from jewelry to cookies!  The address is: http://blog.louisanthony.com

I'll run this contest from now through April 15 so that our lucky mom can have the earrings in time for Mother's Day!
