Effective in the fall semester, the University of Pittsburgh decided to raise tuition by 4%! Although this is smaller than expected, it is still a substantial increase.

Because of the current economic and insurance situation and ‘recession’, the cuts to University funding basically forced them into the tuition hike.

The current tuition rate now for in-state students is $13,344, a $512 increase.  The out-of-state price was raised by $562 dollars to $23,042.

There will not be raises in the price at the branch campuses, however, which is good news for Johnstown,  Greensburg,  Bradford, and Titusville.

That doesn’t sound good for future students.

You are right J.P. I can tell you right now that some kids are going to turn their backs on the school because of this.
